Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My music magazine ‘NOISE’ is aimed at young people aged 14 – 18. As most of my readers are either not old enough for a job or would only be able to get a part time job due to being in school/university full time I didn’t want to make my magazine expensive so I didn’t charge my magazine at an expensive price.

My magazine is aimed at both genders however, it is aimed at mainly females being aimed 65% at females and 35% at males.

I have decided not to use the JICNAR scale for my magazine as I want to show my readers that everybody is equal.

The values and beliefs my audience would have is spending time with their friends and family, going to concerts and festivals, listening to music, fashion, celebrities and going to places such as the cinema.

The type of things my audience would spend their money on would be clothes and other fashion eg: shoes, bags, accessories etc. They would also spend their money on electronic items such as Iphone’s, Ipods, Ipads, laptops, tablets and cameras. They would also spend money on items such as CD’s, dvd’s, magazines and ITunes, these are all items which involve the media.

My audience would shop at shops such as River Island, Topshop, New look and Urban Outfitters, all these shops are shops that an average teenager would shop at. The style of clothes my audience would wear would be casual clothing, sometimes dressing ‘girly’ and sometimes dressing ‘indie’. The shops named above would sell this style of clothes.I think that the side of my audience which prefers the indie bands and artists such as The Arctic monkeys,The 1975 and Ed Sheeran would dress with the ‘indie’ style and the side of my audience which prefers the pop artists such as Ellie Goulding would dress more ‘girly’.

My audience would also use social media a lot, especially social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

The stereotype of my audience will be a typical teenage girl or boy.

I think that my primary audience would look like this because this looks like how an average teenager would look or dress with some with an ‘indie’ style and some with a ‘girly’ style.

Indie Style -

Girly Style -

My primary audience would be female teenagers aged 14 – 18 and my secondary audience would be male teenagers aged 14- 18.My primary audience would be 65% and my secondary audience would be 35%.The different characteristics of my primary and secondary audience is mainly the gender as I think the age of my audience will be the same for both genders. I think that the female readers of my magazine will prefer the artists who create pop music and the male readers of my magazine will prefer the artists who create more indie music.
